Effect of chromium induced stress on seed germination and physiological parameters of Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)

Crop plants are negatively affected by heavy metals. Chromium is also a metal that harms crops. This study aims to examine the effects of several chromium treatments on germination and physiological processes barley seedlings. A Petri culture experiment was performed accomplish this purpose. In experiment, sterilized seeds were sown in dishes lined with Whatman No. 1 filter paper triplicate. Filter papers wetted four concentrations (25, 50, 75, 100 µM), distilled water used as control (0 µM) treatment. The seedlings measured fourteenth day. Resulted, various Cr insignificantly decreased percentage (GP) speed index (SGI). number lateral roots reduced significantly all treatments. Treatments growth seedling biomass (fresh dry) Higher (75 resulted significant decreases root length, µM caused reductions shoot length total length. All fresh weight root, shoot, (50, dry weight. Several Different diminished vigor (SVI) tolerance (TI). By increasing treatments, difference from (% DFC) for phytotoxicity (PP) found increase.
